Mohamad Nasir, Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, inaugurated the Geospatial Laboratory of Parangtritis Coast (LGPP) in Bantul, Yogyakarta as the Parangtritis Geomaritime Science Park on Friday, September 11, 2015. The inauguration was marked with the signing of inscriptions by Yogyakarta Governor the Sri Sultan Hamengkubuono B X and the Minister.

LGPP chief Retno Wulan said the laboratory was built in 2000 to provide geospatial information, especially in the field of coastal and marine, to all levels of society. "The LGPP's mission is to be the center for excellent coastal geospatial studies, education and training, and a place for local and international researchers of coastal and marine geospatial to collaborate," she said.  She said that the presence of Parangtritis Geomaritime Science Park will be able to help the governments of Yogyakarta province and Bantul regency improve economic growth and community development in the field of tourism, agriculture, coastal and marine.
