The government wants to invest Rp 170 trillion (US$17.55 billion) in manufacturing this year, Industry Minister MS Hidayat says. “We will see the realization of a lot of big projects this year, including those that have applied for tax holiday incentives,” Hidayat told reporters at the ministry on Tuesday. The manufacturing investment for 2013, which would be up 9.68 percent from last year, would help the government meet targets of expanding the industry by 7.1 percent. Last year, overall investment touched a new record of Rp 313.2 trillion, and was higher than an initial target of Rp 283.5 trillion, according to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). |
